-Nothing can change this 17 year olds mind that he is a freak. His friends got him into it. One of them getting him into the 'Needles'.
Going out drunk driving wasn't the smartest of ideas. Derek never knew he was drunk, only paying attention to his girlfriend.
The crash changed his life. One second making out with his girlfriend in the back seat, the next second having a car slam into their side.
Her head flopped down into his lap, not noticing until waking from unconsciousness. Blood streamed from his head and arms, his girlfriend dead beside him.
Derek was the only one who lived through it, just barely. The scientists came overnight in his sleep at the hospital, injecting the things into him.
Waking up the next day was a nightmare, bursting out into flame while he felt like it inside.
-Hiding the rest of his life, cutting the outside world off, he honed his skills, being able to turn into any animal now though nothing else. The fire only happened when
he flared up.
-Although his powers are excellent and improving, his mind fails in memory. Almost nothing of his past remains. His parents left him to die once knowing, everyone else in the family afraid as well. Derek wonders why he continues to live, what there is for him to strive for in life.
